The first order of business for the SSAA Board in 2022 was to consider the appointment of Chair. Last year, Ivor Morgan announced he would be stepping down from the role at the end of his three year term to enable a smooth transition, being in his sixth and final year on the Board.

The SSAA is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Alafaci as Chair.

Michael Alafaci is the Group General Manager Corporate Development for Storage King and was appointed to the SSAA Board in 2019 as the Major Operator Category representative. He is a member of the SSAA Audit Finance and Risk Committee and the SSAA is now delighted to welcome him as Chair.

Outgoing Chair Ivor Morgan welcomed the appointment. “Michael readily shares his wealth of storage experience with the SSAA and its members. He has been instrumental in shaping the direction of the association these past few years, particularly with his contributions to our financial management and sustainability. I look forward to seeing the SSAA continue to expand its offerings and support the industry under his leadership”.

On his appointment, Michael Alafaci remarked “I look forward to delving deeper into what the SSAA member base needs and wants, working closely with my fellow board members and the SSAA team on how best we can deliver that support. It’s an exciting time for our industry and I’m thrilled to be able to play a part in the continued success of our sector”.

In his fifth year of service to SSAA, Ryan Coom of National Mini Storage has been appointed Deputy Chair and brings his valuable New Zealand perspective to the role.

The Directors of SSAA join with members in thanking Ivor Morgan for his leadership, dedication and outstanding contribution to industry during his tenure as Chair of SSAA.
