Time to freshen-up and tackle that maintenance list!

Whether it’s a lick of paint, a digital tidy-up, or brushing up your knowledge, Spring is the time to reset, refocus and thrive. A seasonal check-in can help assess what’s running smoothly in your day-to-day operations, and what might need a little extra care. Now is the time to get ahead of maintenance, spruce up your facility, and prepare for the influx of storers gearing up for Summer (hello boats, jet skis and trailers!).

Freshen your look

It’s often the small touches that create the biggest impact. Take a walk around your facility through your customers’ eyes and note anything that looks tired or out of place. Work from the outside in:

  • Street view & façade: Is signage visible and welcoming? Are gardens neat and free of weeds? Could a quick pressure wash brighten pathways, walls or driveways?

  • Access areas: Are entrances hazard-free for both cars and pedestrians? Do gates and security systems operate reliably? Is lighting sufficient for your access hours?

  • Storage units: Do roller doors operate smoothly and seal properly? Are there marks or stains that could use cleaning or paint? Is it time for a pest or roof inspection?

Attention to these details not only enhances street appeal but also reassures customers that you care about the quality and security of your site.

Freshen your processes

Spring is also the ideal time to tick off those bigger projects you’ve been putting off. Start small; set a daily target and chip away until the task is complete. Examples include:

  • Digitising records: Converting archived storage agreements into scanned files to free up space and streamline administration. (SSAA members can access fillable PDF versions of the 2025 agreements to support a paperless future.)

  • Updating OHS practices: A functional, tailored OHS manual makes safety proactive rather than reactive. Action OHS Consulting reminds businesses that safety only works when the “why” is understood. Observe the safety habits you already practise and document them into formal processes.

Freshen your online presence

Customers now find you online before they find you in person. Use Spring as a chance to review your digital footprint:

  • Check that website contact details and opening hours are correct.

  • Plan a simple social posting schedule to keep your brand visible.

  • Review or set up a Google Business profile so searchers receive accurate information.

  • Encourage reviews: ask departing storers for feedback with a friendly email and a direct link to your review page.

These quick steps can strengthen your credibility and boost your Google rating, making it easier for new customers to choose you.

Freshen your knowledge
